HABITAT POLICIES
Billing and cancellation policy
Draft updated: 29 October 2026
Who operates Habitat
Habitat is operated by William John Versfeld, a sole proprietor trading as HabitatZA, 12 Parkmore Place, Monument, Gauteng, South Africa.
Privacy, support and billing enquiries: jannie@volton.co.za.
1. Your first preview
A new verified account can try one successful campaign before subscribing, viewing the finished images without an overlay at reduced screen resolution. Activating a subscription unlocks that saved pack as one included campaign credit, not an additional free credit. For example, a five-credit plan has four credits remaining afterwards. No AI regeneration is required. Full-size previews, downloads, printing and sharing through Habitat require activation. Creating another campaign requires an active subscription and an available campaign credit.
2. Monthly subscriptions
Subscriptions renew monthly through PayFast at the price and allowance agreed at checkout unless renewal is cancelled. A subscription provides access to your saved campaign library and includes the stated number of new-campaign credits. It is not solely a charge for generating new campaigns: while paid access is current, you can continue sharing, downloading and printing existing packs without using additional credits.
Unused included credits do not roll over into a new paid period. The billing cycle follows your subscription period, not necessarily the first day of a calendar month. Current offers and totals are shown on the pricing page and at checkout. A later catalogue edit does not silently rewrite an existing checkout or agreed purchase.
3. When credits are used
One new successfully saved campaign uses one credit. Repeated exports of the same saved campaign do not use more credits. Failed generation does not create a successful campaign charge. Retry and abuse limits may still apply. When your credits are exhausted, existing packs remain available while your subscription is paid; creating another pack requires additional eligible credits.
4. Top-ups and expiry
Top-ups are once-off bundles, currently offered in 5, 10 and 20 campaign credits, for active paid subscribers who have used their available credits. Prices are shown before purchase. They do not start a new subscription period or extend paid access.
New catalogue top-ups expire at the end of your current paid period; the expiry deadline is shown before checkout. A purchase near renewal therefore has less time available for use. Unused credits are not carried into the next period under these offers. Legacy purchased balances keep any earlier carry-forward terms that applied when they were bought.
Credit-expiry terms are subject to applicable mandatory law and require South African consumer-law review before commercial rollout. These drafts do not waive any longer validity, refund or other protection required by law.
5. Payment confirmation and delayed payments
Subscription access and credits are updated after PayFast's payment notification has been received and verified. A payment-success screen alone is not confirmation that Habitat has received that notification. If a completed payment has not appeared, contact jannie@volton.co.za with the transaction reference; do not send card details or credentials.
If a verified top-up payment arrives after the displayed expiry deadline, it is recorded for review rather than adding expired credits to a later month. Contact us so the payment can be investigated and an appropriate remedy arranged.
6. Cancellation and failed renewals
Cancel renewal through Plan & billing. A successful cancellation stops future renewals; it does not end the period already paid for or automatically refund that period. If cancellation fails or a charge appears incorrect, contact us promptly.
When paid time ends without a verified renewal, saved campaigns are retained but locked. You can still reach account, profile and billing recovery screens. Restoring paid access requires a verified payment; spending all your campaign credits alone does not lock your existing packs.
7. Changing plans
Automatic mid-period upgrades and prorated charges are not currently offered. To change plans, cancel renewal and choose an available new plan once the current paid period ends. Buying a top-up is not a plan upgrade. Review the plan, price and allowance before confirming a new checkout.
8. Refund requests, errors and complaints
Contact jannie@volton.co.za about duplicate or incorrect charges, a paid service not supplied, delayed confirmation or another refund request. Include the account email, payment reference and a description of the problem. Refunds are handled by review, not an automatic refund button in Habitat.
We will assess the circumstances and applicable South African consumer and electronic-transactions law, including any cancellation, cooling-off, refund or service-remedy rights that apply. Nothing here imposes a blanket “no refunds” rule or removes mandatory rights. Cancellation of renewal, unused credits and a refund request are separate matters; do not assume one automatically resolves the others.
9. Closure and policy changes
Cancelling renewal does not delete your account. To request account closure or personal-data deletion, use the contact above and see the privacy notice. Changes to future offers will not retrospectively remove an agreed purchase or accrued legal rights.
